Entry-Level Sampling Technician

Full-time / Part-timeShaker Heights, OH (Field-based, Northeast Ohio)

Collect soil and water samples from residential and commercial properties across Northeast Ohio. This is a great entry point into environmental testing — no prior experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Collect soil and water samples from residential and commercial properties
  • Complete chain-of-custody forms accurately for every sample
  • Photograph job sites and document site conditions
  • Draw clear, accurate floorplans of inspection areas
  • Communicate professionally with property owners and tenants

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Great attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently in the field
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • No prior experience required — we will train the right candidate

Laboratory Technician — eDNA Research Collaboration

Full-timeShaker Heights, OH (Lab & Field)

Coordinate a joint collaborative research project with the University of São Paulo, Brazil, developing eDNA technologies to identify pathogens in soil and water.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day activities of a collaborative eDNA research project with the University of São Paulo
  • Perform molecular biology and microbiology lab work related to pathogen identification in soil and water
  • Conduct field sampling to support laboratory analyses
  • Communicate with international research partners in English and Spanish or Portuguese
  • Maintain rigorous documentation, chain-of-custody, and QA/QC standards

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or Master's degree (or equivalent) in molecular biology, microbiology, environmental science, or a related field
  • Background in molecular biology or microbiology; environmental science experience preferred
  • Fluent in English AND Spanish or Portuguese (trilingual candidates strongly preferred)
  • Comfortable working both in the laboratory and in the field
  • Ability to work independently and manage a multi-institution project
