Expertise, Passion, and Commitment to Safety
Combining decades of scientific research with real-world environmental health advocacy

Mike Dickman, Ph.D., M.B.A.
Mike Dickman, known as "The Lead Paint Doctor™," is the founder of Paint, Soil & Water Testing Company™ and a Certified Lead Paint, Soil and Water Assessor Licensed by the State of Ohio. He is also an EPA & Ohio Certified Renovator under the federal Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule — credentials that deepen his working knowledge of the lead-safe work practices contractors must follow on pre-1978 properties, even though our company focuses exclusively on testing and certification rather than renovation.
With a distinguished career spanning academia, biotechnology, and entrepreneurship, Mike brings a unique competitive advantage to environmental testing. His educational background includes a bachelor's degree in marine science from UC Berkeley, a fellowship from Stanford University studying marine ecology, and doctoral work at UC Santa Barbara before earning his Ph.D. in cell and molecular biology from Columbia State University and his MBA from the University of Phoenix.
As a cancer survivor diagnosed with leukemia in 2021, Mike is deeply passionate about health and wellness. This personal journey has strengthened his commitment to ensuring that all people and pets live, work, and learn in safe, toxic-free environments.
Mike is a champion and strong advocate of Ohio's goal of becoming a lead-free state, bringing scientific rigor and compassionate advocacy to every property inspection.

From sample to report in as little as 48 hours.
Your CertiVue™ inspection takes about 30 minutes on-site, and your report is 98% complete before we leave — we're just waiting on the lab. Standard lab analysis returns your results in 4–5 business days. On a deadline? Choose 48-hour rush or next-business-day lab service for an additional fee — ideal for real estate closings, court filings, and compliance deadlines.
CertiVue™ Inspection Platform
We built our own proprietary inspection and reporting platform to solve a problem property owners know all too well
Traditional lead inspections take too much time on site, followed by days of paperwork, revisions, and filing delays. With CertiVue™, inspections are documented in real time. Reports are generated automatically. When lab results come in, they're parsed directly into the report and submitted through the city portal.
That means a process that once took hours plus days now takes approximately 30 minutes total—with accuracy and compliance fully intact.
"Technology should reduce friction—not add to it. This platform allows us to focus on what matters most: clear diagnostics, responsible compliance, and protecting occupants while respecting property owners' time."
Innovation & Growth
We are currently working towards establishing our own EPA and State Certified analytical testing laboratory, enabling faster results, reduced costs, and expanded service capabilities. We're also developing proprietary eDNA (environmental DNA) technology for rapid pathogen identification.
We remain committed to innovation and growth while maintaining our commitment to protecting Ohio's families, pets, and properties.
